Dear Colleague:

On behalf of the American College of Surgeons and the Committee on Video-based Education, I extend my warm greetings!  As Chair of the Committee, I am coordinating a video session with Pascal Fuchshuber, MD, FACS to include outstanding surgical videos from selected international surgical societies and associations.  This session is scheduled for Tuesday, October 25; 12:45  - 4:00 pm and is part of the 2011Annual Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons, October 23-27, in San Francisco, CA

We invite you and your colleagues to identify videos that represent the best videos shown at your most recent annual meeting in 2010 or Spring, 2011 to be nominated for this opportunity.   All that we require is that the narration be in English, the video in authored DVD, NTSC format (we cannot accommodate PAL formatted videos) and the video be no longer than 10 minutes.

A panel of internationally known surgeons will select 8 to 10 videos to be shown at the 2011 Clinical Congress video session.  Of these videos selected, one will be selected as the “Best of the Session” by the audience via ballot, and the principal author will be awarded a year’s subscription to the ACS Online Video Library.  The principal author of each video selected for presentation will be notified upon completion of the selection process by the College.

This video session, introduced at the 2007 Clinical Congress in New Orleans, has had many outstanding video presentations representing the following countries; Brazil, China, Ecuador, France, India, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and Venezuela.

Authors of selected videos are invited to present their video at their own expense.

Please complete a copy of the attached information form for each video you submit.  Videos and information forms must reach the American College of Surgeons at the address at the end of the nomination form, no later than May 1, 2011.

If you have any questions, please contact me by email, youngfadok.tonia@mayo.edu

Thanks so much.

Sincerely,
Tonia M. Young-Fadok, MS, MD, FACS, FASCRS
